This is an incense container with an inro lid shaped as if it were an incense burner with a hosha over it, with a low base. The lid has a baskets pattern on the surface like an incense burner, and the body is covered with dotted patterns. The soft, well-melted glaze is applied, and the reddish coloring is very good, making this an incense container with a vivid finish rarely seen. The zigzag style of this piece is also appropriate for wabi-cha, a Japanese tea ceremony. It was probably made at the Muta-do kiln in Ohgaya or at a kiln under the kiln. The bottom of the pot still retains the traces of its placement.
