This is a suisashi with a strongly tightened body and a hinokagaki pattern on two sides around the base. The glaze over the entire body is quite thick and smoothly melted, but there is a lack of reddish color and coarse penetration is evident. Many of these types of arrow-necked water jars were fired with a lid, which is called a “kyotobidashi,” and the burn marks around the mouth are still visible. However, the lid is now missing. There are traces of itokiri (thread cutting) on the bottom.
