Yellow Seto incense burner

Height 6.4 cm, mouth diameter 3.4 cm, base diameter 4.2 cm, tripod
This piece is typical of chidori-shaped incense burners. The base has a three-sided foot, and a rounded base is carved out in the center of the bottom. The yellow-seto glaze is softly melted and slightly burnished around the base, giving the piece a fried-te style glazed surface. This incense burner and one exactly like it were also fired in Chojiro’s kiln, and it is thought to have been a popular type of pottery during the Tensho period.
