Seto Black tea bowl, known as "Oharame"

Height 8.7cm, mouth diameter 13.3cm, base diameter 5.8cm
This is a typical Seto black tea bowl, large and strong with little artifice. The body is firmly erect with rough spatula marks, and the beveled spatula is sharp on the warped edge of the bowl. The low, waist-high body is a common characteristic of Seto black tea bowls. The small height of the stand is interesting with spatula marks added, and a spiral-shaped helmet with a width of a spiral is carved out of the stand. A shallow “chadameuri” (tea tamenuri) is placed in the center of the prospect. In addition to the craftsmanship of the shape, this piece has a smooth, melted lacquer-black finish. In addition to the craftsmanship of the shape, the smooth, melted jet-black glaze is beautifully applied over the entire surface, leaving a triangular area of clay around the bottom. The skipping glaze on the side of the base forms a scene.
The name “Obarame” is somewhat inappropriate for this tea bowl, but it was probably named with “Obaraki” in mind. There are three cracks on the side of the body.
