Black Oribe tea bowl with design of fishing-net dried on shore

Height 10.3 cm, mouth diameter 10.4 cm, base diameter 5.4 cm
Hatakeyama Memorial Museum
This is a cylindrical tea bowl with a slightly thicker mouth structure, strongly undulating and stepped at the mouth, characteristic of Oribe. The cup has a deep prospect, with a shallow round mirror in the center, and a wide round base with tatami mats is carved out in a simple manner. The wood is undulated from the base to the waist, and the clay is soft and tight. A thin white feldspar glaze is applied from one side of the body to the side of the base, and under the glaze, an amiboshi-like pattern is drawn in iron painting. The inside of the base has a shallow and smooth shaving, and the kiln mark “he” is engraved on it. It is one of the most elegant black Oribe tea bowls.
