Regarding the name “Chigoe-ki,” it is said that the name comes from the fact that the tea tray is concave as if pierced with a chisel, or that it evolved from “Kirikote” (a type of high foot) to “Kirigoe-ki” and then to “Chigoe-ki.”
Typically, it has a three-part high foot and a rim with a protruding edge, and this piece also follows this convention. However, the rim is twisted back, which is an unusual feature. The blue-tinged fire marks and rain stains add to the aesthetic appeal.
