This is called a suji-kabuto incense container because it looks like a helmet-shaped bowl, and is famous as one of the most outstanding examples of Oribe incense containers. The entire surface of the body and lid, except for the joints and the bottom, are glazed with green glaze, and white stripes are applied in all directions from the lid shell to the sides of the body. The lid shell is also decorated with fine line engravings. Together with the “Kizeto Incense Bowl with Pearl Incense” and the “Shino Incense Bowl with One Character Incense” both of which are owned by the Nezu Museum, this is one of the three most famous Momoyama period incense containers.
