This handled bowl is shaped like a bamboo joint with an arch in the center of its Shuhama form. This hand bowl is made of white clay only, without using red clay. The body rises slightly deeper than the others and is generously shaped. Oribe glaze is applied from two sides in an interesting manner, and vine flowers with four-petaled blossoms are vividly depicted on the white ground, while the outer surface is decorated with a “ma-do” pattern. The flat bottom has legs on three sides, and a thin layer of feldspar glaze has been applied unevenly to the underside of the bottom as well. The overall finish of 8182 is a little tight, but it is probably the best of all the Shuhama tebachi.
