 The body is stepped, and the base is carved low and thin, with a kabukin in the center. The black glaze on the inside and outside has been fired to a purple-brown color. It was excavated from the ruins of the Ushiseki kiln, and is a reliable source of information on the kiln site as a black Karatsu bowl.
