This is a slightly deeper jar with a more rounded waist than the painted karatsu jar with ashi design, and the base is large and powerfully carved. The body is roughly, though poorly, decorated with a design of ashi and flowers. The glaze is thick all the way to the base, and the glazed surface is partially shriveled to form a plum blossom skin. This is a jar with a pictorial design that is unique in the world. It is estimated that this jar was also made by the Koraishin Kiln in Ichinose.
