This rectangular vase is neatly decorated with a painting of a glowing silver flame in fine lines. It was painted in gosu, not iron painting, and is a porcelain body with underglaze blue porcelain body. A white porcelain flower vase with a similar shape was also fired at the Hyakumagama kiln, but this piece is assumed to be a donated karatsu vase fired during the Doi family’s reign as lords.
