Height 35.0 cm, mouth diameter 12.7 cm, bottom diameter 15.5 cm
Although this jar is formed rather thick overall, the mouth with a raised steamer is clearly modeled after a Lu-Song tea jar. The stroked shoulders have ears on all four sides, but three of them are missing. There is an engraved inscription on the bottom, “Ugetsu Yoshi Hi, Tenbun Nisai, Chikuhiko Tsuchimon,” which is a valuable document that suggests that this type of Bizen tea jar was already being fired in the early part of the Tenbun era (710-794). It seems to be one of the earliest Bizen ceramics with chronological inscriptions, and in a broad sense, it was fired as tea ceremony utensils. The bottom of the bowl is covered with ash, and the bottom is reddish brown.
