The carving on the bottom of the lantern bears the inscription, “Yoshiyoshi Ugetsu, 5th year of the Genna Era, Kimura Jirosuke,” making it a valuable piece of art with a clear date of production. If not for the engraved inscription, one would probably assume that it was made during the Keicho period. This is a unique and outstanding work.
