Height 27.9 cm, left and right sides 24.5 cm
The roof and bottom are made in the shape of a flower, the roof is openworked with lotus flowers and leaves, and the sides are also openworked with lotus flowers and leaves, with a latticework at the bottom. The roof is carved in the shape of flowers and leaves, and the sides are also carved with lotus flowers and leaves in openwork, with latticework at the bottom. The carving on the bottom of the lantern bears the inscription, “Yoshiyoshi Ugetsu, 5th year of the Genna Era, Kimura Jirosuke,” making it a valuable piece of art with a clear date of production. If not for the engraved inscription, one would probably assume that it was made during the Keicho period. This is a unique and outstanding work.
