This flower vase is in the shape of a turnip with a citron-shaped mouth, and the body is decorated with a single stripe of rings and a five-stripe vertical spatula around the citron-shaped mouth. This piece shows that Iga ware was also produced in the same manner as Bizen ware, i.e., with a flower vase copied from a Chinese style. The ash glaze is applied from the mouth to the bottom of the vase, and some of the glaze has a blackened, burnished surface. The back is slightly reddish with two streaks of blue beadlo glaze. The base is unusually low, perhaps carved in the manner of a celadon vase. There are traces of sticking near the base. It once belonged to the Akahoshi family.
