Height 15.5 cm, mouth diameter 12.0 cm, body diameter 20.2 cm, bottom diameter 13.3 cm
Compared to the other pieces, this water jar is quite different in style.
The mouth rises high and the body extends in a straight line from the shoulder, giving it the appearance of a Fuji kettle with a circular bottom. The body is shaped like a Fuji kettle with a circular bottom. Large ears are placed on the left and right sides of the body, and the design is somewhat delicate, with a tortoiseshell motif on the front, carved in the shape of a snake’s grace, and a tortoiseshell connection motif on the back. The beadlo glaze applied around the mouth and on the front is thin and vivid, but the overall effect is somewhat lacking in strength. It is thought that this type of mizusashi may have been made in the so-called “Enshu-kirigata” style, which was fired in the early Edo period.
