The lid cup with a shallow round-bottomed body and a lid of the same shape is one of the most common forms of Sue ware tableware in the Kofun period. The earliest lid cups from the mid-5th century, produced only at the Doueup kiln, are similar to those of the Joseon dynasty, with shallow bodies and flat top lids. Early lid cups had a near-vertical ridge of the lid holder, which later became shorter and more inclined inward. Lid cups were at their largest around the end of the 6th century and then began to shrink in size. They were particularly small in the middle of the 7th century and disappeared by the end of the 7th century.
