This is a unique Tamba-yaki flower vase with a unique and exquisite appearance. The body is made in four directions, with a stepped hem and a narrow base. The mouth is made with a tama-zukuri (ball-rimmed) design, and the shoulders are imprinted with a pair of ears on either side of the mouth in a very random manner. The bottom of the bowl has an unusual ito (thread) sole. The body is covered from the bottom to the body with a dark brown ame glaze unique to Tamba ware, and the glaze has seven streaks of dripping at the bottom. The clay surface is tightened to a purple-brown color, which is also a unique characteristic of Tamba ware.
