These two examples are representative examples of fuki sumi handmade chu-plates. The “fuki sumi” plate with a moon and rabbit design shows a moon and rabbit, while the “fuki sumi” plate with a flying crane design shows two cranes in flight. It is thought that a stencil was placed over the pattern and sprayed with gosu pigment, and the outlines were drawn after the stencil was removed. The rim has a clear guard rim, and the base is small in comparison to the diameter.
