This pottery was produced by Tenguya Kiln and other kilns in various regions with a similar design. The character for “sun” appears within a double circle in the center of the prospect and is surrounded by twisting lines, which may have been designed as a sun wheel and appreciated as a design for miscellaneous vessels. It is typical of the mass-produced early somezuke wares.
