This large vessel was excavated from a box-shaped coffin in an ancient burial mound in the Niiga area. The upper end of the handle is decorated with a flattened circular spiral-shaped ornament. The surface is black with a thin natural glaze due to smoked reduction firing. It may be a product of the Touyuu kiln.
