The three sides of the window are decorated with bamboo and plum designs centering on a taiko-seki stone, with a figure holding a fan on the left and a figure holding an umbrella on the right, in an unusual design. This type of large jar was exported to Europe in several sizes, and was housed in the porcelain cabinet of Oranienburg Castle in Germany, built between 1688 and 1695, and later moved to the Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin. It is the same as the one in the collection, and is a work of high documentary value, with at least the lowest date being the 8th year of Genroku.
However, judging from the style of the vase, it is likely to date from the end of the Enpo period to the Tenwa and Jokyo periods. In recent years, four or five jars of this type have been imported to Japan, but only a few have been accompanied by a lid. This is one of the most representative large export-use nyumi-shirote Kakiemon vases.
