This short-necked jar with a lid, produced by the Nagoya University Archaeology Laboratory, belongs to the coarse ware category. The body is flattened with a ridge on the shoulder. The neck of the mouth is rather shy. It is made of coarse clay with a slightly sandy texture and wheel-thrown, and the bottom has been shaved to make the thickness of the vessel walls uniform. The lid is rounded with a bulging shoulder at the top. Many of the fine wares of the same period have a ridge on the shoulder and a string. The ware is in good condition.
