Height 2.3 cm, mouth diameter 10.3 x 10.8 cm, bottom diameter 9.7 x 10.5 cm
This incense container, which depicts a Gen’ino (a boar) packet associated with a courtly custom, is thinly molded and deeply elegant in spite of its colorful overglaze enamels. It is probably one of the most outstanding of all the Nisei incense containers. The wrapping paper, ginkgo leaves, and mizuhiki (a traditional Japanese paper for wrapping incense) are expressed in relief, with simple overglaze painting in blue, red, and gold. The lid, sides, and back of the lid are covered with a cloudy white glaze, the interior of the body is covered with a green glaze, and the joints between the body and lid are clay with the seal of Ninsei stamped on the bottom. It was once in the possession of Mashida Nunoo.
