Height 16.8cm, Bore 10.4cm x 23.8cm, Rounded bottom
This is a copy of a boat-shaped tsuri-kajika vase made of sand-bari, which has been prized in the world of tea ceremony since the Muromachi period (1333-1573). The bow and stern of the boat are raised up, which shows Ninsei’s unique style. The fine-grained clay is used, and a thin layer of white glaze is applied from the interior to the boat’s girders, while the rest of the surface is burnished with a hint of red. The center of the bottom is stamped with the cocoon-shaped seal of Ninsei.
