This is a large Teihei hanging jar with a remarkably thick mouth and neck in relation to the diameter of the body. The bulge of the body is also larger than that of ordinary Teihei hanging jars, suggesting that it was made especially for funerary purposes. The two-tiered mouth rim shows the characteristics of the Tokai region, indicating that this is an early example that began to show local color. The firing is very good, and the bright green natural glaze running down the entire surface on the grayish-white ground makes this a very impressive piece.
