This incense container depicts bamboo shoots, and is decorated with iron rusted ironware to express the texture of the bark. The glaze is soft, and the shape is interesting. A small “Shimizu” seal is stamped on the bottom. On the front of the lid of the inner box, there is an inscription “Shinjo Gokagou Kiyomizu ware in the shape of a koto,” and the inscription is said to have been written by Sen Sobae. It is not clear when this piece was made, but it must have been made in the same period as the original.
