This is another masterpiece of the sculptural works left behind by Michihachi. It is a hand-molded black Raku ware design of a black cat. Part of the back has been cut out to make a lid, and the entire surface has been covered with black glaze, with a thin layer of silver glaze applied on top of the black glaze to give the appearance of the cat’s glossy fur. The word “Niami” is stamped on the underside of the lid, but it is difficult to make out because of the glaze.
