This is a semi-cylindrical tea bowl with a raised rim, a small, tight foot, a deep cut-out in the foot, a whorl-shaped tassel in the center, and a large tea pool in the body. Butterflies are depicted in white glaze on both sides of the body, and the wings of the butterflies are drawn in thin lines in underglaze blue. The lid of the box is inscribed with the words “Butterfly Design Black Tea Tray Niami Seal” and bears the Niami square seal.
