In the 10th century, ash-glazed ceramics from the Kurozasa district in the eastern part of the Sanage kiln became predominant. This was due to the abundance of high-quality white clay with a high degree of refractoriness. This vessel was probably made in the Kurozasa district. The wide mouth rim, rounded body with tapered shoulders, and degenerated base suggest that it dates to the first half of the 10th century. It is one of the superior ash-glazed long-necked vases.
