The distinctively flared waist, which gradually tapers toward the rim while slightly tightening the body, clearly reveals Ichinyu’s characteristic style. The bowl is thin overall, with a wide and deep interior, and features a tea pool in the center. The foot is small, with a rounded base, and features a low, subtle swirl-shaped indentation at the center of the foot interior. The black glaze applied to both the interior and exterior melts beautifully, allowing the red glaze to seep through effectively. On the underside of the inner box lid, Chokusai has inscribed: “Made by Ichinyu, Black Tea Bowl, Kachin (signature).”
