The Sanage kiln was at the height of its production of fūji inkstones between the 9th and 10th centuries, and many large fūji inkstones were made during this period. All of the windscroll inkstones from this period have a half-moon or continuous arc border between the land and the sea. Only later inkstones have two polygonal legs.
