Height: 7.5 cm, Mouth Diameter: 11.5 cm, Foot Diameter: 4.3 cm
The rim is shaped like a gentle five-peaked mountain, the body is tall, and it features a small foot at the base. The bowl is thin throughout and has a sturdy, robust form.
The foot is flat with a stepped edge, and the deep interior of the foot is characteristic of Kōnyū’s style. The “Inkyo” seal is clearly stamped inside the foot, and the words “Kōnyū-zō” are carved into the exposed clay on the side of the foot. The black glaze applied to both the interior and exterior has melted well and possesses a lustrous sheen; at the hem of the outer glaze, a snake-and-scorpion glaze pattern is visible. The lid’s exterior bears Kōnyū’s calligraphy, while the underside of the lid features an inscription by Sokuchūsai reading: “Kōnyū-made Black Tea Bowl, Inscription: Zuisō, Left (Seal).”
