This is an example of a typical late Kamakura period plum vase with seal and flower design. The oral part of the vase still has the upper band and the shape has not deteriorated. The body is slightly tapered toward the bottom, and it is safe to assume that this vase was made around the beginning of the 14th century. The design consists of a large chrysanthemum design on three sides in the center of the body, and a rounded sword-tip design on the upper edge of the shoulder. The clay is grayish-white and rather rough, and the gray glaze is still unstable and peels easily, with noticeable unevenness in the glaze.
