This bowl was excavated from an early Sanage-style mountain tea bowl kiln in the northern part of the Chita Peninsula. It is made of high quality grayish-white clay, and was painstakingly shaped using a high-precision potter’s wheel. The shoulder and a part of the body are covered with an ash glaze applied by brush. It is an important material that gives us clues to the occurrence of Ko-Joname.
