This is one of the few complete examples of a large short-necked jar from the early Ko-Tokoname period. It is made of grayish-white, dense clay, and was formed by winding up the clay by means of a brush. The surface of the vessel was adjusted with a brush. The ware is well finished, with a light green ash glaze applied to the grayish-white surface of the vessel. Judging from the clay, it is thought to have been fired in a kiln in the northern part of the Chita Peninsula.
