Oodaru is one of the Hizen Arita Sarayama. In 1637, the Saga Clan listed 14 kilns, and in 1647, when the 13 kiln sites were listed and the distinction between Uchiyama and Oyayama began to be made, this area was counted as one of the Uchiyama sites. In the past, when there were different types of products in the Arita area, Ootaru specialized in pots. Kan’emon Tomimura, who committed suicide around Kyoho (1716-36) when his illicit trade in India was exposed, lived in this area, and the modern master potter Hanjiro Tashiro was also from this area.
