The harmony between the whiteness of the base and the indigo painting, which is a characteristic of Shozui, is dazzlingly beautiful. Since this incense container also has a painted pattern on the back bottom, it seems that the lid and body were separately fired. The Shozui inscription on the back of the lid is also unusual. The carving of the nine leaves on the lid is also carefully executed. It seems to be a special style from the Enshu period. It comes with an inner box and a middle box, which may have belonged to the former collection of Masuda Nuno-o.
