Specialty. This tea caddy is inscribed “Shinchu” in the middle of the tea ceremony bowl. There are various theories as to the origin of the inscription, but the most likely explanation is that it is a boast: “There is probably no other tea caddy that can compare to this one. It is characterized by a view that seems to be a collection of all the colors of Seto glaze. Originally owned by the Kobori family, it was passed down to the Matsudaira Iga-mori family of the Ueda domain in Shinano Province and entered the Takahashi Broom Hermitage in 1923 (Taisho Meikikan).
