There are various theories as to the origin of the inscription, but the most likely explanation is that it is a boast: “There is probably no other tea caddy that can compare to this one. It is characterized by a view that seems to be a collection of all the colors of Seto glaze. Originally owned by the Kobori family, it was passed down to the Matsudaira Iga-mori family of the Ueda domain in Shinano Province and entered the Takahashi Broom Hermitage in 1923 (Taisho Meikikan).
