Oni Oke
Oni Oke

Onioke is a type of oke (barrel) made of kase (old Shigaraki ware) and was later converted into a water jar. It was later converted into a water container. Originally, they were used to hold farm women’s kamishimo (kamishimo costume), and the word “oke” was changed to “oke” and then to “oni oke. Shigaraki ware is the most common type of pottery, and in Iga ware, there are a few examples from the Makiyama kiln, but none from the Marubashira kiln. (Iga and Shigaraki)
