Onikomogae
Onikomogae

This is one of the Korean tea bowls. It is a kind of Kumagawa, and tea masters call it “Oni” if the way of making the base of the bowl is tougher than Makumagawa and even the clay inside and outside of the base looks masculine. According to “Koryo Chawan to Seto Chajiru” (Koryo Tea Bowl and Seto Tea Caddy), the glaze is thickly applied to the whole body, and the glaze drips down from the mouth to form a drooping ice shape as seen in Seto Chajiru Red Kumagete, and small cracks appear only where the glaze is thin.
