A Karatsu ware in which the fire inside the kiln naturally produced a stone haze. There are two tea bowls of this type included in “Taisho Meikikan”. One is from the Fujita family collection and has an interesting view of a large stone haze from the body to the waist, as if a jar had been broken.
It has an interesting view of a large stone haze breaking a jar from the body to the waist, and is regarded as one of the most rare tea bowls in the Kofuku Karatsu collection. Formerly owned by the Akahoshi family, it was sold to the Fujita family of Osaka for 12,000 yen at a bidding by the Akahoshi family in June 1917 (Taisho 6).
The other is from the Kumazawa family collection. It is a small tea bowl with a large stone haze on the outside that looks like a broken smile of a boxwood, and is rich in other scenes. Originally owned by the Fukihara family, it was transferred to the Kumazawa family in 1924.
