Yixing Myoujar

This is the name of a teapot made of vermilion or purple mud produced in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, China. In Japan, with the spread of literati taste from the end of the Edo period, vermilion-dyed kyusu were produced in large quantities mainly in Tokoname. Some of these kyusu are also marked with the name “myogau” on the box.
