This jar is reminiscent of a Tokoname three-striped jar, an unusual form for Echizen ceramics. Considering that Ko-Echizen was established by introducing the production techniques of Tokoname, the existence of this type of jar is also natural. The clay used is fine-grained and slightly iron-rich for an Koshizen ware, and the ware is not very hard, but a yellowish green natural glaze covers the half-surface from the mouth rim to the shoulder, adding to the scenic beauty of the ware. The body was formed in a seven-tiered ring with the entire surface shaved. The slightly wide rim with a slightly broad band and the sloping shoulders that have lost some of their tension give a sense of weakness, suggesting that it was made between the end of the Kamakura period and the Nanbokucho period.
