English word meaning “ceramic industry. The word is of Greek origin.
Keras means horn, Keramos means horned drinking vessel or cup, Keramion means earthenware, and Kerameia means pottery. The potter’s quarter of Athens was called Kerameikos. Today, the word keramic encompasses all industries related to the use of clay and clay products. In English, Ceramic is often used and pronounced softly as ceramic. The French word Céramique and the German word Keramik all share the same root.
