A container with a lid for storing incense. There are various types of kougo used in the tea ceremony today, including lacquered, maki-e lacquerware, tsuishu lacquerware, and ceramics. The most famous ceramics are celadon, kojiki, nankin, somezuki, akae, and shozui, while there are also Raku ware, Kizeto, Shino, Oribe, Iga, Shigaraki, and other Japanese wares. The shapes are small and lovely, and katagemono are the most common. There are a thousand different shapes, including giant tortoises, taiyus, koban crabs, chrysanthemum crabs, raccoon dogs, giant ducks, boxwood, tsujidou, shouji, discarded cattle, bellflowers, open fans, jukari, and giant eagles.
