White porcelain as well as celadon seems to have been produced in the Goryeo Dynasty of Korea, but it is difficult to distinguish them from Chinese blue and white porcelain because the glaze has a slightly bluish tinge and is finely pierced, making it very similar. The extremely small number of examples of this type of porcelain is probably due to the fact that they have been mistakenly identified as Chinese blue and white porcelain and have been mixed in with the Chinese blue and white porcelain. In Japan, the well-known examples include a plum vase with a plain design from the Daiwa Bunka-kan and a vase with an engraved peony design from the Ataka Collection. The National Museum in Seoul has a masterpiece of white porcelain inlaid with a peony willow heron design.
