Saveh
Saveh

A medieval Persian pottery production center south of Tehran, the capital of Iran. Along with Leh, it was destroyed by the Mongols in 1220. The products of Saveh show the strong influence of Ley and Kashan. Beautifully colored ceramics, including Minai handles, have been obtained from Sabeh, but some of them are directly from Kashan and Ley. It is assumed that even though the kilns were located in Sabe, the paintings were made by workers from Kashan, or that the workers from Ley, destroyed by the Mongols, fled to this region.
Today, Sabe is still a ceramic center for the production of miscellaneous vessels.
