Oxidizing flame

marusankakusikaku

A fire of complete combustion, rich in oxygen. In other words, it is a fire that occurs when there is sufficient ventilation in the kiln.
Oxide firing is the firing of iron to red rust and copper to blue rust, as in the case of metals. In general, ceramics are fired by oxidizing fire, and porcelain is fired by reducing fire.
Oxidized metals, which are used as coloring agents in ceramics, have different colors depending on whether the firing process is oxidizing or reducing. For example, white porcelain from Jingdezhen is reduction-fired, and a trace amount of iron in it gives a bluish tint to the white glaze.
