Masukagami
Masukagami

A Chukoh specialty. Tea caddy in a dabuki-gama, Ote. Named by Kobori Enshu.
The inscription is based on the poem “Masukagami Sotonaru Kage ni Mukahirutte Miru Toki ni Shiranu O ni Afubukoreru” from the “Jikagishu” (Collection of Anthology and Anthropology). The reason is that it is roughly the same as the original poem “O”. The yellow glaze drips slightly diagonally from the mouth rim to the edge of the clay, and the glaze is tinted blue. There is a large stone flake at the hem. The provenance is as follows. Inaba Tango-mori, Edo Fuyuki Kiheiji, Asai family, Nanauchi Jojiizu, Edo Fushimiya, Kyoto Suwa Kahei, Kyoto Takeya Chubei, Edo Honya Sokichi and Towa Ryoga, and Matsudaira Fumai. Since then, it has been handed down to the Unshu family.
(Kokin Meibutsu Ruiju, Rimpo Kameryu, Taisho Meikikan)
