This piece is said to have come from an old family near Hiraizumi, Iwate Prefecture, but this is not certain. This is a typical late Muromachi period double-eared jar. The base is already mixed with rice field clay, and the brownish-brown smooth surface is covered with a yellowish-green sesame paste natural glaze from the shoulder to part of the body. There is a kiln mark IN on the shoulder.
